Members visit to the Isle of Bute |
Renfrewshire
CAMRA members Bob and Margaret McWilliam went on a trip to The
Port Royal Hotel and the Russian Tavern, Port Bannatyne
on the Isle of Bute on a wonderfully sunny day on Saturday 13
August 2005.

The Port
Royal Hotel is a Member of British Institute of Innkeeping
and been awarded CAMRA Pub of the Year Argyll & Bute Branch
plus Les Routiers Pub of the year for Scotland and Les Routiers
Overall winner National Pub of the Year. The Port Royal Hotel
Russian Tavern is run by Dag and Olga Crawford and serves all
freshly cooked local produce complimented by local real ales served
direct from the casks. Kelburn Brewery beers are regularly available
plus guest beers and Russian ‘Bread’ beer.
The Isle of
Bute lies off the coast of Argyll in Western Scotland, a half
hour ferry ride from Wemyss Bay to Rothesay on the Isle of Bute
on the Firth of Clyde. Wemyss Bay is connected by fast and frequent
electric rail services to and from Glasgow Central station.
